In order to upgrade the role of women in the sport and increase the presence of female representatives in the various fields of European handball, numerous publications have been produced using the results of various working groups organised by EHF.
In 2010, the EHF launched the Women's Handball Programme with the assistance of a steering group of female handball experts and the support of the EHF Executive Committee, in order to increase the presence of female representatives in the various fields of European Handball.
The EHF Seminar "Women's Handball Promotion" was organized by the European Handball Federation on December 13th/14th, 1997, during the 1997 Women's World Championship in Berlin / GER in order to provide the most perfect environment for fruitful discussions on "Women's Handball". This seminar was supposed to be a further step to emphasize and improve the position of "Women's Handball" in the world of sports.
EHF agreed upon a Women's Activity Plan at the Congress 1996. The basis for the implementation of this plan is the first seminar "Women in Handball" held from October 4th-6th, 1996 in order to improve the position of women and to increase the presence of female representatives in the various fields of international Handball.
