In order to upgrade the role of women in the sport and increase the presence of female representatives in the various fields of European handball, numerous publications have been produced using the results of various working groups organised by EHF.
In 2010, the EHF launched the Women's Handball Programme with the assistance of a steering group of female handball experts and the support of the EHF Executive Committee, in order to increase the presence of female representatives in the various fields of European Handball.
In accordance with the EHF Women's Advancement Plan adopted by the EHF ExeC a network was installed by the federations nominating a women coordinator. For the women coordinators from the different nations it is necessary to build up and respectively strengthen the network, to improve communication and to work out strategies for future implementation. In order to support the above-mentioned objectives, the EHF organised a "Meeting of EHF Women Coordinators" from May 19th-20th, 2000 in Vienna / AUT.
